In india, there are a number of insurance companies including LIC offering a variety of plans. However, if we talk of autism, there is no specific plan that covers this disability. A RTI was filed in this regard by ‘Autism Financial Planning’ team. Series of responses were recieved, the summary of which is as follows.

Other than the Government Insurance Schemes (NIRMAYA and Aam AAadmi Bima Yojna), whether IRDA has framed any regulation/policy for an insurance of a person with disability (including Autism, ADHD, etc)

No. However, it is to inform that the Authority Vide Circular Ref. No. IRDAI/HLT/MISC/CIR/129/06/2020 dated 2nd June 2020 had directed all insurers to publish on their respective websites the underwriting philosophy and approach with regard to offering insurance coverage to the following category of population:
a. Persons with Disabilities (PWD)
b. Persons affected with HIV/AIDS
c. Persons affected with Mental Illness Diseases
